When it comes to bicycles, the Dutch are always ahead of the curve.
Their latest innovation is Solaroad, the first bicycle route in the world made of energy.
In the northern city of Zaanstad, cyclists will be able to take innovative routes from November 12.
Instead of using tar or concrete, SolaRoad uses specialized solar panels that can withstand rain, snow, extreme temperatures and--of course --
The weight of cycling and pedestrians.
In 70-meter path (230 feet)
It has been in progress since October 6.
By taking advantage of the sun's rays, SolaRoad's solar cells are expected to generate enough energy to power up to three homes.
In the future, the engineers behind the project want to extend their innovations beyond the bike lanes and test solar roads for other vehicles.
Ultimately, these energies
For example, power lines can power more families and even traffic lights.
