The city plans to replace the lights with a parking sign, but it wants drivers to get used to the idea first.
The traffic consultant studied the intersection and determined that setting the stop sign could improve the traffic flow.
"It's not just money.
This is their conclusion. . .
"This makes the intersection more efficient," said Aaron McDonald, director of technical services for the city.
"The delay has decreased," he said . "
Analysts believe that even if traffic increases, lights are not needed in that corner.
The change will also save the city $150,000 to $180,000 without having to buy new traffic lights, he said.
