Solar energy is provided for houses in 70 villages in Coimbatore and eroded areas.
According to Tangedco Chief Engineer-
Haldoray, this is part of the United Nations electrification project. -
Solar energy is used to provide electricity for remote residents.
Each house has solar energy to power three lights.
Solar lamps will be provided to up to 2665 households.
The work has been awarded and executing companies will install and maintain batteries connected to solar panels in these villages for five years.
Tangedco also wrote to forest managers asking for permission to investigate forest areas in the region and identify villages and settlements where electrification works could be carried out.
