RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—
A Virginia agency has issued licenses for three new solar projects. Gov.
Ralph Northen announced on Wednesday that the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has signed two new projects in Halifax County and one in Orange County.
The new project is expected to generate more than 200 megawatts of electricity, or enough to power around 25,000 households.
In recent years, Virginia's solar facilities have increased dramatically, driven mainly by large technology companies seeking carbon emissions.
