concord planning energy-efficiency program - solar led traffic lights

Concord estimates that installing solar panels at the top of police stations and fire stations and producing other energy can save nearly $28,000 a year. -

The Concorde Monitor reports that city officials say the savings over time will make up for the $155,000 upfront cost of installing solar panels, as well as replacing incandescent traffic lights with LED lights and installing anti-aircraft devices. -

Concord plans to invest more than $1 million over the next year and a half to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and equipment.
The federal government will invest $360,000, and cities will pay the rest through bonds.
The city is expected to cut enough energy costs to offset annual bond payments.
